Who We Are

In 2016, Wes joined forces with the leading international wildlife and nature eco-travel agency, Reefs to Rockies, as a travel consultant where he learned how to integrate environmental conservation into customized adventure itineraries from one of the world’s most respected wildlife biologists.  

He is a two-time National Outdoor Leadership School graduate, where he was certified as a Wilderness First Responder and as a Leave No Trace Master Educator. As a freelance Outdoor Guide, he worked for premier wilderness organizations, such as Adventure Treks and SUWS of the Carolinas, where he taught young adults the basic fundamentals of wilderness skills – tolerance through adversity, expedition behavior, camp fire building, map reading, self-care, and ‘LNT’ principles.

Wes’ background working at eco-resorts, convention and visitors bureaus, tour operators, wilderness therapy organizations and travel agencies has shaped his vision for how Gravitate Outdoors strives to redefine the way we travel for the betterment of “nature’s playgrounds.” He serves as an Ambassador for the Adventure Travel Trade Association and is an active member with the Sierra Club.

He graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS degree in Commercial Recreation and Tourism Management. In his free time, you’ll find him on the trail, attempting to identify bird species or fly fish, and being in awe of his daughter’s curiosity for nature.
